Project Description

Initial assessment and treatment

(60 mins) – £65
Follow up treatment
(60 minutes) – £65
How many sessions are recommended and how often should i come?

To get the best results at least six sessions are recommended. Improvements can be noticed after the first session, and more visible changes after the third or fourth sessions.

With the six and twelve treatment packages, it is advisable to attend twice weekly initially, dropping down to once a week and then once a fortnight as you progress through the course of treatment. It is recommended that to maintain the health of your skin you attend for a maintenance session at least every twelve weeks thereafter.

What happens at the initial assessment?

A full medical history is taken and a treatment plan is designed to meet your needs. It is important that factors which may be driving premature ageing are addressed to get the best, most long lasting results. These may include emotional, physical or psychological symptoms.

Your face will be cleansed and then carefully examined to identify particular issues you may have.

Fine needles will be inserted into key body points as well as ear and facial points to address the problems identified during the assessment.

The session will finish with a relaxing facial and shoulder massage after the needles are removed.

Subsequent sessions will also include a brief update on current health status and treatment as described above.

What results can be expected?

As it is a holistic treatment you will notice an improvement in overall health and well being.

You will notice a reduction in facial lines and an increased firmess of the face. Remember, the results will not be instant, as we are working with the body’s natural healing processes, but over the course of your treatments results are very apparent and will be noticeable to those around you as the health of your skin improves.

Louisa Kirby | Cosmetic Acupuncture – the natural way to youthful skin

Acupuncture is a holistic treatment which addresses the underlying problems that may be contributing to ageing of the skin, as well as targeting specific points on the face.

Tiny, fine acupuncture needles are inserted into points on the face, ears and body. Treating systemic issues, which may be driving premature ageing, is of prime importance. Specific body points will bring the body back to a state of health and well-being which will ensure changes to facial appearance are long-lasting.

Numerous benefits include:

  • Increases blood circulation which brightens complexion
  • Improves skin tone and elasticity
  • Stimulates collagen production to strengthen and plump up the skin
  • Tightens facial muscles to smooth and firm the face
  • Increases cell regeneration filling out and smoothing lines and wrinkles
  • Regulates and balances hormones – in acne type, stress related and menopausal skin

What is the best age to start?

Keeping your skin in excellent condition is easier than curing a problem that has already occurred. Therefore, it is best to commence cosmetic acupuncture in your 30s or 40s. However, good results are still obtainable on clients in their 70s.

Does it hurt?

Overall it is very comfortable, but a few of the points can be more noticeable than others. However, most people find the experience deeply relaxing.

Is acupuncture suitable for everyone?

Facial acupuncture is contraindicated in pregnancy.

It is also contraindicated for those with poorly controlled epilepsy, heart conditions and diabetes. It is contraindicated for those with infected skin, valvular heart disease, who bleed or bruise spontaneously, who have recently had a stroke, who are over-anxious or unwilling.
