Biomagnetic Neuropsychology
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation
What is Biomagnetic Neuropsychology – an overview
Biomagnetic Neuropsychology is a pioneering technique which uses new technology to create new neural pathways (i.e. in the brain). The technique enables our brains to better process thoughts and emotions.
During each session, parts of the brain are stimulated by a hand-held stimulator in a non-invasive and gentle manner to create immediate new, positive neural pathways (i.e. in the brain).
Client testimonials
- “I don’t know what you did, but it was as if a God came into the room and gave me my life back! I felt the difference within a quarter of a mile of leaving the session”.
- After one session, a woman stopped biting her nails after 40+ years, the point being that anxiety she was unaware of, subsided.
- “I didn’t stop smiling all day after my session. I feel a massive load has been lifted from my mind. I feel clearer and calmer and a new wave of peace has joined our family life”

About me: Rhianwen Roberts
I am the fifth person to train to deliver this therapy in the UK. I trained in the US in 2018. I have also studied for a Certificate in Trauma, with an interest in how trauma affects the brain. Professionally, I have been a University Lecturer in Contract and Commercial Law for 13-years, tutoring students from young people at the beginning of their careers to senior City professionals. In my lecturing work I have also Monitored other University Law Lecturers, which includes providing guidance to practising lawyers who enter academia. Concurrently I worked as the UK Independent Legal Policy Expert on European Commission Studies and for 9-years as Independent Law Subject Expert for the Welsh Government. I am a non-practising Barrister and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I now combine legal academia with Neuropsychology therapy. My first language is Welsh, and I work in both English and Welsh.
Is it suitable for children?
As a rule, no. Children‘s brains are naturally in a hyperplastic state therefore this therapy is not necessary or suitable for children. Where parents believe their child has emotional/behavioural problems and want them to receive the therapy, the correct protocol is for the parents to receive the therapy with the child present. However, in certain circumstances, such as in extreme anxiety or panic attacks, it may be possible for children to receive part of the therapy.
I suffer from seizures, is this treatment suitable for me?
The therapy is not suitable for those who have experienced seizures. It may not be suitable for those who have experienced head trauma, including some who have experienced concussion. If you have any concerns, please discuss with me.
Why would I benefit from Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and Neuropsychology?
Everyone (except shown above) can benefit from Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and Neuropsychology sessions. It benefits those who wish to optimise their existing good psychological health, as well as those who want to improve their psychological health. After the therapy, you may find that you feel calmer and ‘brighter’ – that you may be able to better deal with challenges and have more ‘life’ in you. For those who have experienced negative experiences or trauma, for example due to relationship issues, dysfunctional bosses/work environment or grief, you may find yourself experiencing psychological health issues, for instance:
- Anxiety
- Anger, irritability and frustrations
- Depression
- Negative beliefs
- Thoughts going around and around in our head
- Irrational fears, such as fear of public speaking or taking exams
- Bad habits such as smoking, drinking or eating too much, or
- Just generally not feeling ‘ourselves’.
When this happens, it can result in certain parts of the brain becoming inactive and creating neurological ‘gaps’/atrophy, which is the brain’s coping strategy. Even when we are aware of some of the problems, we may be unable to correct them, try as we might. This is because the problem is neurological. Until the development of neuro-imaging, this phenomenon was not understood and the technology not available to remedy. Even now, when neuro-imaging is possible, it is not widely accessible to many who would benefit from it. This is where Biomagnetic Neuropsychology can help, as it is available to both scan for neurological inactivity and to stimulate any inactivity. This stimulation leads to the creation of new neural pathways (i.e. in the brain) – a sort of ‘jump start’ for new neural pathways to develop in the brain, and thus, improved brain function.
What happens during a session?
The therapist is trained to identify neurological gaps as the first part of the process. Once they are identified, the next stage is to stimulate those areas of the brain. This is achieved in a non-invasive manner, with a hand-held stimulator. This action is tailored to the individual. It is so subtle that you do not feel the stimulation being applied. Yet, this action induces a state of neural hyperplasticity in those neurological gaps, which means that the neural pathways in the stimulated areas reach a heightened cognitive state (children are in this state naturally). During this induced state, the brain is more capable of rational thought and understanding. It is at this stage that coaching/re-training of the brain takes place, drawing on psychological and anthropological principles, targeted to the individual’s identified neurological gaps. This is how new neural pathways are created to enable new, rational and positive thought processes.
How long does a session last?
About an hour. Depending on your requirements it may be possible to book two or three hours consecutively.
How many sessions will I need?
A minimum of 3-hours is advised. A maximum of approx. 6-hours is often sufficient.
