Over twenty years ago I tried my first Yoga class and after trying various different styles of Yoga, I knew I had found the right one for me when I started an Iyengar Yoga class. The attention to detail and systematic approach really appealed to me. I also loved the variation; every class was different! As time went on I also began to really appreciate the knowledge of my teacher and the corrections I received.
I completed my Iyengar training with Sasha Perryman at the Cambridge Iyengar Yoga Centre and continue to attend classes and workshops with her and my regular weekly teacher.
Regular practice of Yoga really helps me in all aspects of my everyday life. In my teaching, I hope to pass on my enthusiasm and the knowledge I have gained and continue to gain, as the beauty of Iyengar Yoga is that you continue to learn; it’s a life long journey.
The class is suitable for Pregnancy as long as the student has practiced Yoga before. It is suitable for Postnatal students.
I am qualified and insured to teach children over the age of 6 years.
My Class is on Friday from 1pm until 2.15pm
General Iyengar Yoga
This is a general Iyengar Yoga class suitable for beginners or students with more experience. The postures are very precise and you will be guided through them by an experienced teacher who has trained for many years to become an Iyengar teacher.
The Iyengar teaching method helps you focus on correct alignment of the body in poses, ensuring you are working safely with maximum benefit to your flexibility, strength and wellbeing. Props such as blocks and belts are sometimes used to help with this.
The classes can be hard work but you will quickly build up your strength, flexibility and stamina.
Classes generally start with simple poses and build up to more advanced but appropriate adjustments will be made for people with different physiques or problems. The class ends with a period of relaxation.
